So I bought another ATC haha Liquid cooled 86 250r for 700$ with paddles desert tank Ken carb. thought it was a deal since they go for about 1,200 around here or more.
Initially it had this chain tension contraption and honestly didn't look very reliable or safe so i took it off. Then I realized with it off my chain will rub right on the front of the swing arm. It originally had this white plate protecting it (in pics) that I really want to get rid of. It is not stock swing arm it is 26 inches long and the stock is 21 1/4 I believe. I plan on having this swing arm along with the rest of the bike powder coated so with that in mind, I would even consider a stock swing arm for an 86 so I can use stock chain slider.

I was also wondering if you think a stock chain slider would fit the swing arm I have now?
Is there another alternative to having an effective chain slider on the swing arm I have now? (besides the POS white block contraption)
Would it just be better to go stock and make it easy on myself?

Well give me your opinions thank you!

Get some pics that show the whole swingarm maybe it's aftermarket, or maybe it's just a homemade one.

Well it doesn't look like a westcoast , or a cal fab to me. But it might be something else I'm not by any means a expert, or it might be a homemade on thats my guess.

The white piece on the front is the chain guard, keeps the chain from grinding through your swingarm.

I am very well aware of that, but its about to disappear if I ride it again

Well if it is lonestar I defiantly want to keep it. Maybe I should've asked first what brand swingarm this is? Now that I look at the weld they are pretty premium but then again I am a NEWB.

TM Designworks chain slider, about the same price as OEM and far superior.

Thanks again guys I ordered both the OEM and the TM Designworks OEM Replacement. I am going to try both of them, the OEM one is a lot simpler and doesn't require the swing arm to be removed. I put on the OEM one last night and it fits perfect thanks for the help.
