What type of gasket do you guys have on your z's? I seem to remember a post about some type of fiber ones. I have a metal one that came with a bike I bought. It was not in a package so I don't know what kind it is. It is flared with splits in it. The large end goes on first and when you put the pipe on it squishes down for a spring fit. Anybody ever seen one like that? The reason I ask is I need one for the other z I am restoring.
Thanks,
Whiteman

I used high temp silicone as a gasket for the head pipe on my Z and it never leaked. I also use the same stuff on my snowmobile exhaust pipes.

I'm with twgranger here. I bought the metal one your talking about and it leaks so bad black goo gets on the rear fenders. I used high temp silicone also along with the metal gasket and now all is well.

You can also add more springs to get the pipe to clamp down better.
PS. When I was talking about using silicone I ment using it along with the metal gasket.

So the metal gasket is a dealer part? Not worried about leaking gunk. Just part of 2-stroke. All my other ones leak.
