I recently got a 1985 or 86 (The year on the frame is partially rubbed off) 250 big red and I kicked it to see if it would crank because it had been sitting up outside for years but when I kicked it it wasn't very hard to at all and all I could hear after was clicking so I was wondering if anyone could tell me what is wrong with it.

It's broken. Seriously??? A little more info will help you ,and us ,greatly! It SOUNDS like it's been run out of oil,and the rods broken.. Do a compression check,if there is none, shine a flashlight in the plug hole,if the piston isn't going up and down when you kick it. The rods broken, could also be the timing chain ,,or other things. And welcome!! btw : )

Not alot to go on here..are you possibly talking about a kick start problem..
If so you will have to remove the side cover and check the gears..
Have you tried jump starting it with a boosting battery charger or your car?

Post a pic, we can tell you the year... Sounds like your one way bearing went and took a dump on you... Pretty common on these motors....
