Hey guys Im new to 3ww, just got my first Tecate an 85 and was wondering if there was anyone who would be able to give me some info. on who to get parts from other than ebay, and is there anything I should replace that was a constant problem or defect that can be upgraded.

I've gotten all of my parts from Ebay, Craigslist, 3ww or .org. We have a Tecate Group here on 3ww and the group can help you find just about anything. The only thing I can think of is to make sure your stator is in good shape, that the screws holding it on are threadlocked. The magnets in the flywheel also have a tendency to remove themselves from the flywheel and take out everything in their path.

Welcome aboard dirt.
Here is a link to tecate specific discussions: http://www.3wheelerworld.com/group.php?do=view&groupid=4 (scroll down once you are in that forum - about 350 pages to read over.)

Make sure you pick up a Tecate toolkit.

Drop your stock flywheel and get a Ricky Stator flywheel. It's enclosed inside of steel, so even if a bolt backs out, it's not going to kill anything. Well worth the money.

Also make sure your intake boot is good and not cracked all the way through. Those are hard to find.

One more thing: The power is relatively close to a light switch. It's got screaming power, and coupled with the stock gearing, it gets up and screams quickly (unfortunately it tops out rather fast, about 65mph stock or so). So be careful when you're first riding it. Try to keep it in a higher gear so it won't power away from you.

If your intake boot is in bad shape, or you need a flywheel with fully encapsulated magnets, or.. you need a chain slider for your swingarm .. contact jeswinehart above. He makes all of these items and more to keep these old girls running. Thanks again John..
