Well, I bought an 86 250R yesterday, the only problem is I can't ride it yet! I'm in Virginia, and it was in Ohio, so I sent my Dad in Ohio a check and he picked it up for me. Now I have to listen to him tell me how fast it in, and what nice condition it's in, lol. He sent me a couple pics, but I have no idea how to post them on here, maybe someone can tell me what I need to do. Thanks guys.[/b]

Well, I finally figured out how to resize pics....Not very well, but they're resized none the less. Anyway, here's the "R", pretty clean, with original tires, top end never been off of it. Not bad for $1000.

Nice find man. I wish I could find a deal like that on a 250r! I want another one :D

I know what ya mean AMC, I looked for about a year. Usually you can only find pieces of garbage for a thousand and under, but every now and then you find a garage queen like this one. My buddy bought a mint 85 250R from a guy who's son had joined the service in 87 and left the trike. He paid $400. I didn't find a deal like that, but I don't think I did too bad. More pics to come!

I found this 350x for 800! I just wish I could find a 250r in this kind of shape for a 1000

Nice find man, when you going to get it home to good ole VA? I just finished putting mine back together except that my new chain is too long and I don't have a way to shorten it, so my buddy is going to do it tomorrow. I will have to post some new pics of my 85 R, now that it is back together and has new plastic! Congratulations! I'll be in touch about riding out here in Pungo as soon as I can get the riding place straightened out. I have 8 acres out here but not really enough to ride on for it to be real fun.

Sounds good Mark.....I wonder who's gonna be faster? Does anyone know what kind of silencer this thing has on it? I've never eard of RPS, I will probably be puting the stock silencer on it when I get it. My dad said it came with a tray of 15 different jets for the carb, not sure which one he has in it, and I'm not sure which one is factory. It also came with a set of turf tamers and the factory service manual. Hopefully I will be driving to Ohio some time soon to pick it up, maybe my dad will come out here. I have an old Honda street bike out here that I restored for him, so maybe we'll meet half way or something. I can't wait to ride that sucker. The last time I did any serious riding on a 250R I ended up bending a grab bar and busting my ass pretty good. Looked kinda funny walking around for a day or two.

I forgot to mention, I did talk to a guy in Michigan that has an 85 250R he said he'll take $800 for. Sounds like it needs new plastic and some TLC, shoot me a PM if you guys want his #. Later

I was outrun by a tecate in short races, but spanked him on the top speed thing. I have a buddy that wants to race his new Banshee against the tecate and the 250r with the new motor, so it'll be interesting! Wish I hadthe $$$ for that other 250r in michigan, but the wife would kill me!

Hehe, yup, I hear ya man. Somehow I managed to get the little woman excited about riding, so now she wants a blaster or a 250X/300EX, couldn't talk her into a 200X, but at least she's not complaining about me buying bikes. I really need to get out and do some serious riding, I haven't done any real riding at all since about 5 years ago, I had an LT500 then. Might take me a few minutes to get used to riding a three wheeler in the woods again.

You got a steal AMC, I got a similar deal on a real nice X, drove all the way to Charlotte, NC to get it. I wonder why there are no deals on three wheelers here in Southern VA. Everybody thinks their beat down, rusted garbage is worth top dollar here for some reason.

RPS = Richter Privateer. They were around in the Mid 80's but I havnt seen or heard of them since. I may have spelled it wrong also....

Thanks for the info man. Should I keep the thing or go back to OEM?

Hell no man, that thing is way too cherry. Here's a pic, I have the original white plastic on it now with reproduction decals, and I have the fender garnish too. The 50 might be for sale as soon as the wee one graduates to something bigger though. Not what you wanted to hear, I know.
