I found a 1984 Kawasaki KLT 250 in the local scrap yard yesterday. the motor turns over and feels like it has compression. it looks like the wiring is all hacked up. the manual clutch seems to operate smoothly. it appears to be all there with the exception of the airbox and airfilter assembly. It is not beat and doesnt appear to have any broken plastic. My question is; is this 3 wheeler a 2 or 4 stroke? how hard are parts to obtain? they want $40.00 for it and If I get it, does anybody on here have these needed parts to get it going again? like I said, needs wiring harness, including the igniton. it needs the airbox also. if any of you guys have these parts, shoot me a pm with pricing.

thanks

Jordan

Well, it is a 4 stroke if it is a Prairie. A 4 stroke will have valve covers.

id get it... Kawasaki parts arent too common although but then again theres ppl with nice looking suzukis tigers etc. at 40 bucks id def get it its worth a good bit more then that to part out if u cant fix it but with something like that id rather keep it, a lot cooler then the thousands of honda 200s

thats not too bad. does anyone know where I can obtain a wiring diagram for the 250? by the starter sylenoid there is a white plug with what looks like 6 prongs in it. what does that plug into? also the igniton switch is missing, which color wires do I tie together to hot wire it for now?

thanks

Not sure off hand if this NOS harness interchanges to the 84, but the price isn't bad for NOS. I also make replacement harnesses and my notes suggest I have a template for the correct harness on hand. According to the NOS listing it's for the KLT250 A1 and A2 models which was 1982 and maybe early 1983. The next newer harness fits A1, A2, C1, C2, and C3. The kawa machines are a bit confusing, the next newer harness fits everything the last one does + P1. Might just be simple updates in who made the harness, or maybe the actual harness changed.

Yes, Cory. That was my harness that you used for the template. I think that the biggest difference was the vacuum VS. electric fuel pump. I may be wrong on that, but that's the part that I know.
