1983 honda atc 70 help

So I bought this 1983 Honda 70 atc. The problem is I can't get it to start. I cleaned out the tank and Carb. Its getting fuel to the Carb. When Iry to start it. . It backfires through the Carb. It has good spark and I checked the timing. I lined up the mark on the cam sprocket with the mark on the head then looked at the mark on the case at the stator and it lines up with the t. Its in time. I thought maybe gas ain't going through the Carb but the bowl is full. I put a lil gas in the spark plug hole but still nothing. It has good compression also. Any ideas that can help me out?

Amazing but true - that fixed mine.

Mine spit out a plug a week or two ago... Running great one minute, up and died the next... Never popped again on the old plug...

Also try regapping the plug. My 83 wont start sometimes, but I change the gap on the plug and it starts and runs good.

I got a new plug the other day and put it in. I didn't check gap on it though. What should the gap be set at?

.024" - .028"

So I did another new plug. Great spark at 25, 26,27,28 gap but it still wont start. Any other ideas?

Could you see light through the hole on the jet, when it was apart? Is the exhaust plugged with a rats nest? Airbox got a rats nest?

I put a new Carb rebuild kit in. Took off the air box filter was a lil dirty. Exhaust was clear. Still won't start. Never had a problem like this on any bike I have ever owned. Should I just junk it? Lol

Adjust your valves : )

check to make sure the points are opening at the right time; They may even need to be replaced.

What should each valve be set at?
