Anybody live near this guy? Im seriously interested in it, but for something like this Id want to look at it closeup and in person first. No way Id go 3K on it though. Maybe half that if it were a super nice job.

Looks like he took the frontend off an LT. Yuk.

I emailed him, but extracting information from this guy is like pulling teeth! He said it was one of those 3 to 4 wheel kits made for the Z. I was trying squeeze some specifics such as what kind of brakes, and what kind of shoes/pads it took, and he says is its a kit, and it looks great, and I cant get any better answer. I also asked for some closeup photos of the frame connections, and the a-arm assemblies, and he just ignored that part too. If the guy wasnt such a jerk, Id buy it, because Id really like to have it, but he wont even answer basic questions.

There was a red and white 84 Tecate conversion on ebay not to long ago. Never Sold. Probably the same kit but the guy had put white Tecate-4 nose plastic on it. It didn't look that bad to me. I've got a pic somewhere of it and a green 85.

What I've never seen is an 86/87 Tecate Conversion.

I just want to know how he was going to forward air the thing for only $150.

I asked, never got a response.

why not buy a tecate-4 in stead of converting a tec 3? that z looks half finished and trailprotrailprotrailprotrailprotrailpro ugly

I just want to know how he was going to forward air the thing for only $150.

I asked, never got a response.

$150 was to crate it, and deliver to Forward Air. This did not include freight charges.

He sent me a second chance offer for $2000, but its still too much.

To add to TrikeKids point, nobody now has any real interest in a Tecate or 250R conversion, because they both built quads based on their 86 trike designs.
Many of use wish Yamaha would have done the same, with a Quad-Z. I firmly believe, (I dont care what the magazines say) the TriZ motor is much more powerful on the bottem end, comparable top end and has more potential than the 250R motor, and mounted on a similar style chassis, a Quad-Z could have easily rivaled Honda's almighty TRX250R. Im dying to get one and prove it!

That kit was made by astro and welds to the frame. I have an old mag where they tested that kit on a Z and liked it a lot. From what I can remember from the article most of the front end parts are interchangeable with a quadracer.

sry TimSr, I hadn't checked this thread in a while and I could have gone down and seen the TriZ. If you are still interested PM me and I'll go check it out.

Thanks for the offer, I really appreciate it! The guy did end up sending me a bunch of closeup pictures of everything I wanted to see, and I gotta say, it really looked sharp, and well done. I really wanted it, but Id just have a hard time shelling out $2K for it. I dont know, its not like there are a lot of these to choose from! Those kits alone were probably cloe to that at one time. It would be so cool to have both a Z trike, and Z quad for those competitions where the trike doesnt cut it. If it handled decent I could sell my 250R, and drive the "anti-Honda"! Leaving out all the emotions of "trike murderer", what do you guys think this would be worth? Im thinking maybe $1200 if it were still a trike, but not sure as it now is.

Kits cost like $1200+....Figure half of that, thats in the $600 range...Add that onto the $1200 "Guesstimate" (hehe) for the TriZ as a trike, and your around $1800. Seems like a reasonable offer to me.

Oh No, TimSr's going to the "Dark, Dark" side. First a quad, and now a yamaha quad, what are we gonna do with you?!?! Wana sell me your TRX? :)

TimSr

Yes actually, selling the TRX250R is part of the master plan. It should bring me a net cash gain, and then Ill only have to stock spares for one model, and I can return my household into a Honda-free zone!
