Runs and shifts perfectly normally but after 1/2 hr or so of heavy
hauling, come to stop and the engine dies like stepping
on the brakes of any manual clutch without disengaging the clutch.

After it cools off, it all normal again.

Been that way for years.

Should I fix it?
I mean, how should I go about fixing it.

There IS a chance it had some wrong oil or stupid additives in
it's previous life but I think too much slipping is more likely with the wrong oil?

Warped metal plates or a broken spring . I would just buy a whole new/used clutch and rebuild it , just incase other parts are compromised as well . I assume your clutch is adjused correct first LOL .
