I know this one has probably been done to death, but is there a difference in the 200 heads, as I know they're fairly interchangeable, is the 200x head an upgrade on the atc200, and the xr200 head an upgrade on that? if you get what I mean? Ive just picked myself up an (supposedly) XR200 head, which looks on the outside identical to both my 200s & 200x heads. Its got the short decompression arm coming out of it, but is there any other way to tell them apart, maybe valve size or something?
Cheers guys :D

wow, SOMEone knows for sure.
I've heard the x heads are a spiffy upgrade, but why is the question.
Maybe smaller combustion chamber aka increases compression?
Ports polished?
I guess the important thing is...do they bolt right up with no problems.

Im pretty sure all the 200 top end stuff interchange (except 86 onwards) I know the xr200 piston and cylinder are upgrade to the 200x but was wondering if the head was also.
I picked it up cheap (few an far between this side of the pond) the cam journals are all good, not sure what to do with it yet might just clean it up an leave it on the shelf to gather some dust....

All the 185/200 heads are the same as far as valves and chamber the only differences are the 200x heads have larger cooling fins and no compression release . No upgrade at all . 86/87 model is a different motor

I belive the heads are all the same other then the 200x not having the decompresser. honda played around with the compression raito.
