Was just wonderin' if anyone successfully got away with using light gray primer for engine enamel. I was going to go with light gray and then a clear coat of engine enamel on top. I couldn't find a light gray in dupli-color, only dark gray. It's for my 84' Tecate that has alot of light gray accents, you'll see what I mean- pictures-

I paint all of my Kawasaki motors with outdoor patio furniture paint and the exhaust with Bar-B-Que paint.

So the heat won't screw up regular auto/metal primer?

Not too sure about the automotive paint, but BBQ paint definently holds up well. Might be hard to find in grey tho.

rustoleum makes a hi temp primer.. i wouldnt trust most automotive paints to take the heat without cracking or peeling off
