I am considering purchasing a honda big red 3 wheeler that needs to be fixed. The problem is it wont go anywhere. When you shift into gear it will just stay there. it started with a grinding sound coming from it. then within minutes it would not move. Is it the gears. What is it and about how much would the part cost to fix it?

Sounds like the rear diff. Those are very much prone to fail in the Big Reds and 250SX's. Make sure the engine is running fine at idle when in neutral and then go from there..........peace

Without knowing the model it is hard to say what the problem is. No I will asume it is a shaft drive ( some were chain drive though ). If the differential is bad you can expect to spend $100+ on parts. You might even spend $2-300 on parts.

if you are really lucky...mine has the hi/lo gears. try popping into high then lo then high. sometimes they dont mesh easily and it needs to put in gear.
like i said if you are lucky.
