View Full Version : How got should my 250R run?

I put on a vapor trail tech and today we went out for a 120 mile ride. It varied from 155-180 all day started at 60 deg air temp and got up to 75 or so then we rode on the pipeline in some sand thru jumps and ruts for 15 minutes I look down and it was at 215 deg so from then we headed back to the truck it cooled off and ran out of gas refilled then the temp was 160 when cruzin 70 and when we had to slow for a speed zone it got back up to 195.It didnt do tha all day. Its top end is shot piston slap and 140 psi left. The radiators were cleaned and check over but I used the original cap 50/50 pre mix coolant I bought. Any ideas. I thought maybe from running out of gas it was leaning it out while working it in the sand. I have the stock exhaust on it and the plug seemed plenty rich. but it still got hot after I refilled it. I run 32-1 r-50 klots with premium gas.

Today I started it up its full of coolant and it got up to 200 in a couple minutes I also sprayed some starting fluid around the cylinder base and carb no change there but it was bubbling out where the stator wires case and it slowed the idle down.

You've got a main seal out.

Pull the mag cover off,spray w ether behind flywheel,should rev to the moon. Crank seal.

I'v put over 1500 miles on this motor since april of 2010 when I got it and its never been apart or a new top end put on. I guess It dont owe me nothing. Ill do that test tomarrow

Well I removed the stator cover dont rev up when I spray it and I drained the oil and its clean and 18 oz came out I dont remember how many oz I put in it was late and my bro in lay converted .65qts to oz and thats what I put in. I did notice though when I sprayed starting fluid on the stator wires where they go thru the cover the either bubbles? Mabey is the clutch side or that the carb float is sticking. It was fin all day til the end but the 5th and 6th gear power was down from last year all day.
