84 200es starter problems

well i got this 84200es for free i got it all running and i got a battery for it and i hook up the battery and i turn the key to the on position and the starter engage and it start the trike and the starter still spins and the natural light stays on..i think the start button was stuck in but i think the selenoid is bad but i douno i need help thank you

I'll take a prelim shot.

Solenoid could be sticky, overrun (one way) clutch may be unable to disengage
so the running engine could keep the starter 'engaged'..
and the start button could get stuck on.

What does it sound like?

I don't know if tapping the solenoid would help knock it loose or not.

Spiders nest under the start button?

the start button is not stuck i took it all apart and i turn the key to on and she started right up so i am just going to buy a new solenoid and see if that helps

yeah, I guess there's a slug in there that slides back and forth
by some sort of electromagnetic pulse.
and being a physical moving part, it could get stuck.

Had one on my truck that needed a smack like every other time.
