Geez! Wish i had one of those! How does it handle?

I REALLY COULDN'T TELL THAT THE HANDLING SUFFERRED WHEN I PUT THE +6" SWINGARM ON IT, BUT I RIDE MOSTLY IN THE DUNES. THIS LAST WEEKEND I WAS HILLCLIMBING AGAINST A SLICK BANSHEE IN THE SAND AND WHIPPING HIM PRETTY BAD. THE NEXT THING I KNOW HE'S STOPPED AT THE BOTTOM OF THE DUNE SO I PULLED UP TO B.S. HE HAD GERNADED HIS CLUTCH TRYING TO KEEP UP WITH MY OLD HEAP! GOES TO SHOW YOU THAT THE "TRAINING WHEEL" UP FRONT ON A QUAD CREATES TOO MUCH RESISTANCE!!! I TOLD HIM FOR ANOTHER $800 OR SO HE COULD FIX THE WEAK trailprotrailprotrailprotrailprotrailpro CLUTCH AND HAVE A CHANCE AGAINST MY 17 YEAR OLD 250!!

Very Nice T3 JBKX. I assume that you are in Cali. It is always good to hear about the almighty banshee getting beaten by an old 3 wheeler. Some people just never want to believe these stories so lets hear some more. I would like to see some info on the KX500 motored T3 and its installation. How about some pics of the KXT500! You can email me if you do not prefer to respond on the board.

I'LL GET SOME PICS OF THE 500 SOON. IT'S GETTING THE STOCK SWINGARM LENGTHENED 8" AS SOON AS I GET SOME TIME. I ALSO LUNCHED 4TH GEAR GIVING IT HECK OUT ON THE HIGHWAY (CLOSED COURSE, WINK,WINK). I'M GOING TO SPLIT THE CASES SOON AND FIX AND REPAIR. WHILE IT'S APART I'M GOING TO SEND THE CRANK OFF TO GET IT BALANCED. IT VIBRATES SOME BUT NOT TOO BAD. THE INSTALL WAS A PIECE OF CAKE. I FABBED 2 NEW FRONT MOTOR MOUNTS AND HAD FTZ BUILD A DRAG PIPE. THAT'S ABOUT IT!! 5TH GEAR WHEELIES ARE A BIT TOO MUCH FOR ME. BY THE WAY, I LIVE IN KANSAS NOT CALI. ONE OF THESE DAYS I'M GONNA LOAD UP THE TECATES AND HEAD TO GLAMIS IF IT'S STILL OPEN FOR RIDING, NOT JUST LIZARD AND DESERT FLOWER WATCHING WITH THE TREE HUGGERS!!

WOW!! that is the sweetest T3 i have ever seen, it is beutiful!! you must have $pent a lot of time & endless effort for it to look that good. are you gonna replace them shock boots? ;) I hate to be nosy but around about what kind of monies have you put into it? if you don't mind me askin. I understand if you wish not to answer that question. I would love to see that kxt 500 :!:

I live near Wichita and go to Waynoka OK 3 or 4 times a year.
About the fork boots, I'm looking for a pair of fork wiper (gaitors) and would be willing to pay good money for a pair or two. If none are to be had, I'll have to buy a new set of boots. If anyone has a set of gaitors I'd be willing to talk turkey!!!!

i think he said its a bill's pipe. its nice.

nice bike.

The pipe is a custom built unit. the pipe builder for Trinity Racing made it. I don't know who he is. When I sent my engine to Trinity they got him to build it to their specs. That was about 7 or 8 years ago so I doubt if they remember doing it. It is a 3 piece design (expansion chamber, stinger, silencer). I have a Bill's and a DG complete exhausts each, but they are not for sale.

HMMM, would you consider a trade for an after market finish line (jimmy white replica) axle and the dura blue hubs to fit 8" rims? it is a real trick set up.

very sweet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

JBKX

SORRY, NO TRADES. I ALREADY HAVE A SET OF DURABLUE HUBS FOR A T-4 THAT WILL ALSO WORK ON 86-87 T-3 SPLINES THAT ARE ON A 4 - 110MM PATTERN. THEY'RE EXPENSIVE BUT STILL AVAILABLE I BELIEVE FROM DURABLUE.

cool. the jimmy white axle actually has the same spline as the 84-85 t3 so the hubs i have wont fit a stock 86 axle.

never hurts to ask 8)

JBKX, you've got a bit$@in looking Tecate there! My friend had an 87 Tecate that he bought new in late 86. He had painted his frame green also, had green fork boots, green rear hubs, & a blue rear shock spring. He put a vented airbox lid & a DG Type II silencer on it with the stock pipe. That thing was wickedly fast! He sold it about 4 years later to get a faster car. These days he swears by Banshees, but dreams of owning another Tecate. Don't make the same mistake he did.

Do you have any experience with, or know much about Tecate-4's?

That is a work of art that bike. It looks like a KX inlet manifold your runinng there. Do you foul the air filter with your leg when you are riding it? Is the rear plastic your running Maier plastic? Where are these kx500 pictures. I had considered doing a kx500 swap into my tecate, Is it dificult. Will the bike pipe fit in the trike frame, can it still be ridden at a reasonable pace or is it just an all out race machine now?

Get some Tal-Strip (made by marhyde) at a paint and body shop supplier and it will take the paint off of almost anything!! The KX500 is strictly a straight line monster. The KX500 pipe will work but you have to cut and reweld to fit.
