Chuck, I found the 2nd. boot I made (3 years old) that I run a 36mm carb in since I made it and it did indeed take a set for the 36mm carb.
Not as sloppy as a 36mm boot like the 86/87 Tecate four wheeler but certainly not snug either (but usable for 32mm (84 modle) or the 34mm (85 modle)124630124631124632
Well, I found out what I wanted too so perhaps you can glean some info from my pictures.
It is quite possible you have a intake from the 86/87 Tecate 3 wheeler which if I am not mistaken is a 36mm stock carb.
How you can tell is the 86/87 intake boots have 2 little protrusions sticking out and the top that another protrusion on the carb fits in between.

Ok that helps alot. the carb in the right picture looks to be the exact carb I just bought. Here is a question for you.. in that picture you measure about 34mm. why is that measurement so much smaller than the stock carbs? In both stock carbs I have, they measure 38 mm right there. and around 44 mm outside diameter. It seems to me there is no way that carb could fit in a stock boot. I just dont see it possible. I know my dads 84 is a stock boot because he is the origional owner, its the same as my 85. I mean its not just a little sloppy its not even close. If the bike was at my house i would post a pick, but its not.

Also how would I attach the throttle cable to the new carb since the cap doesnt have an elbow?
