i have tried almost everything possible and nothing makes a good seal around the pullrope to stop damn water from entering so i was wondering what everyone else does to stop water from going in. dont be smart and say u dont go in water cause where im from if u dont go in water u dont ride cause u cant get on the trail without going thru a water crossing.

The pullstart handle should make a seal around the opening. If there is enough tension on the pullstart rope, that is.

If you're talking about the seal the housing makes against the engine, then I dunno. Seal all of the covers openings up and bumpstart? :D

yeh its the pullstart handle im talking about, i have no problems around the engine i always seal that up with red silicone, sometimes my pullstart pulls the cord back "hard" and sometimes it has a bit of slack hanging out, new recoil spring mabey?

Pull off your recoil, look at the pulley. there is a notch in it,take your rope by the handle, pull out, pinch the rope so it CAN"T return back in. Pull the slack INTO the housing, put it in that groove, and wind AGAINST the tension,2 or 3 more rounds, you now have a tightly wound recoil! it will hold the rope firmly ,,but if it's submerged, you're gonna take on water,,but not near the amount you are now!

wow lol go figure, i had my rope wound up when i put the pulley on... so if i read what u said rite, u leave slack on the rope then u put the pulley on and wind the rope the more u wind the harder it will recoil?

it was my first time changing the rope, i was surprized i got the recoil spring wound and in place the second try lol.

There is no way to seal that rope entry point perfectly. Either maintain it or get out of water that deep....

YES!,exactly! ,I didn't know how to explain it,sleds, chainsaws, their all the same. The notch is there to SQUEEEEEZE the rope in between the housing and pulley to get your correct tension. You'll get it now!
