I am fixing to have the head rebuilt on my '81 Honda 185s. I was wondering what kind of valves I should get for it?
I have been looking at Kibblewhite Black Diamond valves, anybody ever use them? I have heard the stock valves have some type of coating on them and can't be serviced during a head rebuild. Thanks for any help.

wow
since no one's home yet to respond,
my choice would be stock oem valves.
Most likely cheap and Known to last 1/4 century, but no real bragging rights.
unLess, you want to run some high compression and use some spiffy exotic fuel

Any truth to the factory valves not being serviceable? That makes no since at all. I don't see how putting new valves in recut valve seats without some sort of lapping will work? Sounds like nonsense to me but I want to make sure first. I have ground valves and recut valve seats on many trucks and diesel engines when I was in diesel school and had access to a valve grinder.
My local engine shop will be doing the work, they told me to bring a spec sheet with everything they need to know. All they are going to do is cut valve seats and put in new valves and valve stem seals and just make sure everything else is still in spec. Hopefully I don't need valve guides.
I'm finally getting around to replacing the timing chain so I figured I might as well have the head done. I never have to add oil to it between changes, no oil on plug and absolutely no smoke coming out of breather but I do see some smoke when I get on it hard then let off. I've asked my girlfriend a million times if it is oil or gas she smells but she don't know.
