1)Quickly, country origin / Mfg. , therefore, cost and quality of "workmanship" (machining tolerances) and varying ingot quality
2)OEM and "low quality" aftermarket are mostly cast, aka molten alloy poured into a mold and machined thereafter. A little more dimensionaly stable but but have their limits to how much "pounding" they can take. Also, generally heavier.
3)Quality aftermarket units ( Wiseco ) are forged from a blank, aka round piece of "bar" gets heated and then pounded into it's rough final shape via press and die. Cooled and machined after. They "grow" more with heat but are strong and usually lighter. They like their diapers changed more often that the oems.

You can never go wrong with the Honda OEM. Plug and play if all is in tune and given proper break in.
If you let things warm up, run good oil, and enjoy tuning your bike as much as riding it, with some angry riding thrown in there, Wiseco is nice.
Otherwise, pro-x and vertex are also fine if price is right.

A lot hinges on bore starightness/roundness, hone finish, CLEARANCE, port chamfering and break in procedure... if all of these and carburation/ignition is right, any of the above will do.

Is this for the 480?

It is....More parts arriving this week,be a roller by the weekend.Brought my cylinder in to Toys4BigBoys today and they hadn't a clue as to what I was holding in front of them.(cylinder for the 480). was a little shocked and dissapointed, seems my cylinder is older then most working there

I sent my cylinder to Millenium Technologies in Wisconsin and was very happy with the quality. Im a machinist myself so it was hard for me to just send my cylinder to anyone. I figured a big place like them bores cylinders all day long and probably has nice equipment and gauging, it cost me about $75 with all the shipping and it took a week from the time I sent it out until I got it back. not bad.

As sad as that is, I'm not surprised. Everytime I order parts for my 85 250R over there, they assume I mean CR250R. I've had good luck with Milligan on bores; If I ask for 3 and a half thou, that's exactly what I get. Also, he has no problem with not chamfering the ports when asked not to... no funny looks either. I think he moved to Grande Digue with ON Sports.

Btw, ever need a hand or some custom brackets, just ask.
