My first thought was how ugly it is. Then that irrational part of me that automatically loves anything with three wheels took over, and I thought "Welllll....." If it were local I'd offer him $200 for it.

I love the rare ones! Can't find anything about this company so far. I would prefer a 10hp like the Carl Heald Super Tryke I had but still VERY interesting American made machine!

Wish he was closer! Has someone coming at 4:30 to look at it. Tire size is 22-12-8! Said he will call if the first guy doesn't take it. Hoping I can give him an offer and get him to meet me half way but have a feeling it will be gone.
I just saw one of those Heald Super Trikes for sale maybe 2 weeks ago from out in Albion. I think they only wanted like 250.00 for it . I don't recall if it had an engine or not though.
Tri-Rods used to be very very popular. My father still has mine from when I was a kid hidden in the barn somewhere. (Thank god for a pack rat) I will see if we can get the barn cleaned out this summer so I can get to it, get it cleaned up, and show it off. Mine was a Tri-Rod similar to the link I posted, not the thread topics one.

I am wondering if the Briggs is original. Most of the early American Mini-Bikes used Tecumseh motors like the Rupp's, Bonanza's, etc. I see in the photos the gas tank is mounted above the engine, most Tecumseh's were like that, gravity fed where the Briggs & Stratton had attached tanks under the carb. This one has both, under the carb and behind the Sissy Bar? Either way looks unique!

That is a sweet trike, I like it! I'd find a way to put a larger motor on it, but it looks like something outta Mad Max.

Also a Chain Drive Jack Shaft, center sprocket looks like it would have good low end torque.

Extended axle, larger, more forward mounted, 5 speed engine, large pipes.

That think would look sweet with the 11hp Honda motor I have sitting in my garage!

11hp?
Nah, I've got an extra 450R engine sitting around. I'm sure I could find a way.......

I really love these American Trikes! I have owned a few of them and was down to one my Agway Rustler 310. Adult sized, 10hp Briggs & Stratton, parts a lot less than my Japan trikes which I also love! Anyway, thanks for the link! The first guy didn't buy it, they made me a great deal on it and also had a Honda 110 so I bought them both. It was a father and son, they loaded them up for me and were great people to deal with! I am wondering if this is the first model that Tri Rod made as I can't see anywhere that a fiberglass body would have mounted. I do believe it is lates 60's making it pretty rare. I spent hours searching the net, can't find it anywhere. Anyone here have any photos of one, brochures, ads, etc.??? I would truly appreciate any if you could post them. It runs and drives great, front forks need straightening, and I think a rear bearing. Still steers smooth, the son showed me it in action, I was impressed for a 5hp, he was a pretty good size "kid"! Here's my "before" photos as bought!

Here's my Rustler 310, if anyone has a Rustler 305 let me know if you are near Finger lakes, NY. I need one for my younger grandkids, they can't reach the brake pedal on the 310 and our Honda 70 only has a hand brake that they can't squeeze, thanks!

Here's my daughter who took this for a test ride to get a feel for it. Hard to believe that 5hp can move pretty fast! She zipped around pretty quick. May be a bit much for our younger grandkids.
