I bought some motor mounts, and i'm trying to put them on my 350x. But the bolts are the wrong lengths, and the front and top motor mounts that go through the frame are smaller than the frame holes.

Are 85 and 86 motor mount bolts different sizes?

Yes, the 85 and 86 models are very different from eachother the 86's they built more race style and have square tubed frames. Hence the motor mounts most likely will not work...your going to have to find specific 86 mounts...

the 86 frames are not square tubed! there are slight differences on the frame, but i thought the mount bolts would be the same.

For the 86 -350x, the motor mount holes are bigger diameter through the frame than the 85...so if you get an 85 frame, you'll either need to get 85 mounts, or drill out the holes a bit in the frame to accomodate the larger bolt from the 86 mount. The bolt that runs through the engine are same diameter for both years. AlbinoDuck is thinking about the 200x, not the 350x.

James,

I had no idea that they were different or that you even needed '86 mounts. I have a set of the '86 mounts if you want them. I never paid that much attention to them myself because I have really only messed with my '85. The mounts are still on the '86 I bought so just tell me what you need and I'll get them to you.

I believe it's just the upper motor mounts, the rest should be 10MM. 85 had 8MM bolts upper plate holes/bolts.

DC - maybe the later 85 frames were a bit different...but the frame I just used for my 86 build was off an 85, it had the 8mm bolts for both the top and front mount plates...maybe that's one of the changes Honda made throughout the different versions? The rear single plate is the same for both years. The 86 plates were also a bit bigger to allow for the 10mm holes all the way around, which stinks to find out if you didn't already know that BEFORE powdercoating...leason learned the hard way I guess....
