85 bigred lights dim unless idling / oil in stator plug

So ive had this red for a long time. electric start and lights always worked great untill recently. the electric start doesnt work anymore and the lights are dim unless its at an idle. ive replaced the battery with a new one and it operates correctly for a month then dies again? with the battery unhooked it operates the same with dim lights. is there a chance this could be caused by a bad rectifier?I also noticed when i was checking plugs that the stator plug was full of oil ive never encountered this must be wicking up the wires, is the stator supposed to be in oil all of the ones ive encountered are dry.

Both your machines have oil in the stators. oil up in the plug?? Never heard that one! Shouldn't be there. Sounds like a grnd or battery problem,rectifier should blow lights.Check trailprotrailpro battery,clean all your wiring plugs,and grounds.

Most 4 strokes have oil in the stator.

Sounds like a bad ground to me.

Lots of connections to check and clean but it's better than randomly changing parts.......

my headlight is also dim on my 200x think a new stator could fix it
