I have a 250 Sx that's all together and runs, but does need some work. What I'd really like is a 250 big red, I'm more into off road and hunting than going fast. The Sx has the smaller tires on it. Reading through the posts I get the feeling that if I put the same size tires on it that a big red has ,The gear ratio will not work well. Is there different ratios to be had,say out of another bike. would I be better off selling the Sx and looking for a 250 big red ? There does'nt seem to be alot of either one of them around here.

Put bigger tires on it if you want to, I rode with a guy two weekends ago that had 28 inch Vamipres on an SX and turned them no problem.

The ES, and the SX are almost the same trike engine and transmission wise, put some 25" tires on the back, and your gearing is about the same.

My 250es hauls ass, even for a work trike, and if you look you can find a rear rack for your SX.

The 85-87 big red has a lower gear ratio than the 250sx because it is turning 25" tires, the 250sx turns 22" tires stock. If you put 25" tires on your 250sx your final ratio will be alot higher and you will lose torque but gain topspeed. I would keep your 250sx and swap in a big red final drive unit (this will lower your gear ratio and give you more torque and less speed), add an set of agressive 22" tires, and put a rear rack on it. This will transform your SX into a capible utility machine more suited for your style of riding

That's what I was wondering about I really like the bigger diameter tires and the lower gearing. I don't see the 25" tire fitting in the front. can I get a 25" one to fit the sx wheel, or don't worry about it? Is there big red diffs out there?

I'm running 25's all around and have the rear diff from a TRX250 in my SX. Works good.
