View Full Version : 200es Misfire?
I have 4 200es's, all are running, 2 I have restored and the other 2 are awaiting restoration.
On one of the restored ones I have a misfire.
It idles fine but when the throttle is opened it misfires.
I have swopped over the coil, CDI, pulse generator and carburetor from the other ones but I still have the misfire?
I havent swopped over the advance rotor but it seems okay?
To me it seems it must be an ignition timing issue?
Any ideas?

I've seen rustdust under that cover that says
CDI.
Since the clearance is tiny, that can do it too.
not sure if there's a spring loaded advance plate under there or not.
(The ohms on that thing is around 19.??)
Too many engines bouncing around in my head.
Nice to have known working units to swap out for sure, eh?
Fast and free?
trim the last tiny bit off your coil wire where the cap screw into.
I'd never believe something that simple can make a difference.

Hey?
What's the line voltage in s. africa? and plug shape?
We're doing a benefit concert here this summer and want to buy sewing machines
for some people who really want them.
I guess they can sell clothes at the local markets.
Just heard about it today but my
daughter spent a couple months in Africa and said the
whole continent seems to be different.
(sorry for the off topic)
I see the 200E and 200ES have different part numbers for the advance rotor, and my brother seems to recall he used the rotor from the one of the 200E we scrapped for parts last year.
So I think this might well be the source of our misfire problem?
The trikes are at our holiday farm so when I next get a chance to go there I will swop over a rotor from another 200es.
