Im wrapping up the build on my ATC 500R conversion. My question is,have any of you put an operating headlight on one ? If so,where can i score a lighting coil that will work in a 1986 CR500R engine ? Any info would help...
Thanx,
Pat ( Caverider )

I used a moose lighting coil on mine, it' an 95 500 though. I think ricky stator makes one for the earlier years, or can rewind yours.

No need to bump a thread that quickly, people will get to it when they can :)

Hey, thanks caverider. Mine was model specific, I'm sure the earlier models are too.

I'm not sure that a thread less then a day old would get deleted.

No light on mine.. Just a number plate. A 500R is not a bike you will ride in the dark. You will understand after it's built :)

What do you mean? I don't think threads get deleted unless you don't follow the rules for some reason or another here. for example, there are 54,910 threads dating back to 10-02-2002 in this section alone.

I have ridden every kind of terrain ,,, i have ridden woods so dark you needed lights in the day time... the size of the motor has nothing to do with the amount of light required to see... but it might have something to do with the size of your BALLS!!!!

I've been looking into getting a light for my cr500 , Ricky does make a lighting coil for it but its only like 25wt .

Really your best bet is an HRC lighting kit, or an e-line stator kit. The e-line puts out two 100w sources, the HRC kit only puts about about 35-40w. Both are hard to come by. I paid $340 for a used e-line kit, and I was lucky enough to nab an HRC kit for $180 NOS! I know what you're thinking but don't ask, neither are for sale.
