I got a 86r that I put a completely rebuild motor in last year. Had Klotz in the bottom end last summer, went to ride it this spring and the trans seems to slip and barely move the bike. But it only does it the first time I run through all 6 gears. After that its perfect. I changed the fluid to BelRay, but it still does it, and is starting to get worse. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

It's just a guess but it sounds like it may be the clutch and running thru all the gears gets it warm causing the plates to swell a little and thus working properly. Like I said though it's just a guess I'm by no means an expert

I would say that's a pretty good guess! If it were mine I would pull the clutch and check out the plates and replace it if necessary. Out of curiosity what type of oil are you running? What color was the oil when you drained it? If it was gray/milky looking I would look into replacing the clutch. Is the clutch cable adjusted properly? You should have just enough free play in your lever to slide a nickel in there. Let us know what you find!

I'm currently running BelRay 2 stroke trans fluid, last year i ran klotz. The old fluid looked descent, smelled like Klotz. i will pull the cover tonight. Thanks a million! My clutch cable might not be adjusted right, where does the nickel slide into? and to adjust it i move those 10mm nuts down on the case?
