I know its probably a dumb question but can i use dot3 car brake fluid? my back brake fluid is low and i have tons of dot3 car brake fluid laying around, also i just ordered brake pads and wondering if i should use break cleaner and clean the disk brake up when i change out the pads?

I always use DOT3 unless it says DOT4 on the cap. My Goldwing has DOT4, but most everything else has DOT3.

Yessir you can! dot3 is good, and dot4 is better. Dot4 is a higher boiling point than dot3.

Pads wore down? would have the piston farther out of the seat in the caliper thus holding more fluid
