I've been working on a friends 85 atc, and finally after spending weeks fixing carb issues, the chain decided to start slipping off of the rear sprocket. I thought oh, easy fix and put it back one, but it was really loose, and after 15ish minutes of riding and one good bounce, the chain popped back off. Is there a way to tighten the chain or is it time to replace? The rear sprocket is worn to a degree, but still seems usable to me, but i could be wrong

Yes, it has some adjustment. Look here for a downloadable manual, and it'll explain it...pretty easy project.

Yes there is an adjuster. You have to loosen the rear bearing carrier bolts on both sides. This means opening the brake drum if the bolts turn. Then usually on the lower left side when behind the bike there is a tensioner on it similar to a bicycle only bigger. Tighten the nut until you get the desired tension and tighten the bolts up.
Hope this helps!
