so this guy has a 83 honda 250r for sale, he told me he would take 500 for it.
he says bearings are tight, motor runs mint, brakes are good, and it has a new front tire.
the seat needs to be recovered, the fender is cracked but not that bad, so im wondering what do you 250r people think?
ive never had or drove a 250 r before, he might be taking my honda 200 for a particial trade.
any advice would be appreciated

Sounds like a damn good deal to me, what shape is your 200 in?
And the 250r will absolutely blow your 200 out of the water, there's not the slightest glimmer and prayer of a contest between them.

I've owned my '82 250r for about a year and a half now, and i LOVE IT!!!!!! I put a bigger carb on it, a dg silencer, K&N filter...and i just bought a complete 200x for a song and dance, im goona use the front end off it and some other parts.. but man I just LOVE my R.
$500 is a steal of a price if its all he says it is, sometimes my 250r scares the trailprotrailprotrailprotrailpro outta me, especially now with the bigger carb.
GO FOR IT!!!!

There good to start out on to get used to a two stroke....but there not all thaaatttt fast. I've had lots of them, they reach there peak power very quickly. I have an 82 250r and an 85. I like my 82 because it's more mild. I would jump on it if I were you (great price) for a good running machine.

my 200 is in decent condition, it has a few cosmetic flaws such as the back fender is cracked, has a plastic tank that doesnt look too nice, seats taped, and the mudflap is missing but it runs and drives great

Try and get some pics, if you are trading a good running 200, plus 5 bills, wouldn't be all that bad if the R is in good shape, but for the sake of it, I'd try and lower him down on the cash part a bit.

actually he wants either 500 cash, or my 200 and like 200 dollars. either way its a steal.

Oh, at that price I'd just go with the 5 bills. You can do alot with the 200 that the R can't do, and vice versa, have some of both worlds at your disposal.

yeah, i also have a 1985 honda 250es. so i will still have a utility machine, so it would be nice to have the 250r for trails and quick runs
