Yep, I need an answer to this as well... is this what we're looking for? I need to power up a 350x headlight with a 200s motor.

Ricky stator will also custom wind a stator for you. Just call or e-mail them.
They did my 185s back in the 80s - been around a long time.

I called them (aka ricky stator)and ordered it. Its a replacement coil to the 200x. He said it puts out more power than the factory coil so you have to add a regulator with it or you will toast the light bulb. Anyhow i bought a new light coil, regulator, and a ignition exciter coil. It was about $100 with shipping...thanks everyone. Maybe i will repost how good or bad it works when i get it. Should be about the middle of next week.

Well it looks like several interests on this one. I just picked up a 200S for an AutoX and had read about this problem with others also, so I'll be watching too....

well i have a 84 200s and i just ordered a lighting coil and a volt reg from them (Ricky Stator.com) they recommended the volt reg cuz the coil is a 75 w coil.. so hell if it works. its worth the extra cash.. 40.00 for the coil and 20.00 for the VR
ill keep every one posted on what happens... as well...
shortline10 thanks for the heads up on that product..

It came packaged well. The hardest part was soldering the little leads.lol, haven't had to solder anything for about 20 years. I mounted the little regulator and ground for the light coil up in front of the gas tank. It works great the light is very bright! and not much to say about the ignition exciter coil the bike started, so it works. Hopefully the coil area is a done deal for another 26 years. Thumbs up to ricky stator...

Thanks for the input. The 185S engine I picked up has the stator out and had to be replaced anyway, so this is a good upgrade solution.

Yeah, Ricky does well, they're the best at what they do.
Their stator/lighting components are also waterproof! :D

Yes but it depends on the bike/trike - call or e-mail them. I e-mailed that exact question about a year ago for my 84 200x. I have not had it wound yet, but I wanted to know. They started out with custom rewinds years ago.

Yeah they can custom wind stators, but I'd imagine only up to a certain point or wattage output because of the size constraints.

ok well mine came the same way as dc8fixer's did, from ricky stator, my problem i had was wireing it up, it is just easier to run new wires, but it didnt take long. couple of hrs, sorry i was so excited to get the stuff i forgot to take pics... dam
but after wireing all up it works great. hell yeah.

well folks just ran into a problem one of my screws vibrated loose and the coil broke away from the housing plate. and got krinkeled up real good, (dam it) so i pulled it all back apart and called ricky stator and their sending me a new one. and just charging me shipping, so thats very cool.
and Mike at RS. said that sometimes those screws will do that. he has seen it befor, and if the threds are stripped out , just use a machine screw and nut/ lock washer on it theirs plenty of room.
so i hope others learn from my loose screws... ha ha ha
