I have a 200es that I have trouble getting started with the electric start. It will start easily with the rope but will only start with the button after the engine is completely warm. I checked my plug wire and coil and the readings are within spec it has a new spark plug and the timing is right on and the advancer is tight and operational. The carb has been cleaned recently and it has lots of compression. The battery isn't new but cranks it fast enough that it would start any of my other bikes that I have. Should I maybe be looking at changing the primary ignition coil by the stator or maybe something else. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks

Honestly I would check the battery. If it's got any age at all it could be losing charge. Mine does the same thing. Try and start it with a "hot-box" battery charger, and if it does then that's your problem. If not, then I was wasting your time and I apologize! Good luck, rugman!

What is a hot box battery charger? Is it one with a boost setting? I always thought that anything over two amps you have a real good chance of frying the cdi box. Maybe I will swap my newest battery into this bike and see what happens.

Hm...Hard for me to explain without sounding like an idiot. Some of you're older boxes will charge even while you're cranking on it, and if you turn the power up on it while you're cranking it'll crank a while longer.
But just to be safe, I would just use a newer battery.
