I bought a blaster for $75 that had a few motor problems that I have fixed and now the motor runs great. I tore the frame all up because i wanted to make it into a go kart/ dune buggy after not succeding at that i dont know what to do now. I have the engine but nothing to put it in. I was wondering how hard it would be to make that blaster frame into a 3 wheeler. Or should i just sell the motor for $150? If i made it into a 3 wheeler would it run good? Or be worth it? Thanks

Find a 200X with a GOOD frame and fab up some mounts.

Id say sell the motor and what parts are left and put it towards a real trike. I see all kinds of people buying cheap 250 2stroke racers on here all the time. You could probably buy a half decent 200x for 500. My blaster got dusted buy a 200x when I was in my younger days...

Get a front end for it and make it a blaster trike! do it! I've always wanted to try it, or atleast take a blaster engine+swing arm and axel and toss it in my yt175 lol

Been wondering about turning a blaster into a trike myself. There are a couple advantages to a more modern trike platform, such as, availability of replacement parts (my 86"X" is getting harder and harder to find parts for). There are a couple people out there that may be able to help you along. Perhaps TPC trikes could help you out, or perhaps the guys out in Tionesta (Pa) at Tionesta trikes could lend a hand. Keep posting if you do, I'm seriously interested!

If you shop around I think you might be able to find a complete 1st gen 200X with brake, tripples, forks, and complete wheel and usable tire combo for under $150. Out of that you might need brake pads, tire, dot fluid and rebuild of the legs for $65 at any shop. The trickey thing is the neck which puts you in 2 positions, cut a wasted Xframe, or build one to match. I would think the ole Xer front would handle any punishment that motor could dish out.

what have ya got to loose? chop it! I've always wanted to take a polaris outlaw 525 solid axle and do that. wonder if you could do that with an IRS quad? now that would be interesting.....

I second that.

The IRS makes it very hard to power slide. The bike wants to roll more than slide. Not that great in the corners as it could be with the solid axle. Amazing in the jumps.

Wouldn't be able to do nearly as tight of slow turns. Remember that one main keys of sharp, slow turns is hikin' up a back tire.

Do not use the 83-85 200X frame, the head stay pipe is right in front of the exhaust.

The 86/87 frame is far easier to put a Blaster motor in. Put an FMF on it, take the lid off, mix your own fuel and jet it up and it will fly.

My ex's Blaster was no slouch, TONS of VITO parts for those puppies and parts everwhere.

Chopping necks off and attaching them to quads safely is not the easiest thing to do in the world. Rake, ride height and strength all need to be close to spot on..........

As much as the FMF's look and sound nice, there are way better pipes. Dyno port, Paul Turner, Toomey.

Now if you do some extensive port work, the FMF fatty gold series can be a nice pipe. The FMF sst gold series is a good pipe after port work also.

There are guys that have put a Tri-Z engine in a blaster frame with relative simplicity. Just configuring the pipe is the hard part.
I would guess that you would be better off to grab a Tri-Z roller and put the blaster enigne in it. You will have way better suspension/brakes and actually have a 200cc trike without spending a bunch of time fabbing and figuring fork angles etc.
