Well I started tearing down the 250sx yanked all the plastic and the tank off today. and started looking at what needs to be replaced. I was wondering since my shop manual has not arrived yet how tough a chore it was to replace the swingarm bearings. there seems to be a little play in the swinger. It also looks like the shifter seal has a leak. It looks like it would be an easy fix. just pull the shifter off and the footpeg and pull and replace the seal. I'm still thinking about replacing the front end on the bike with a 200x front end. Is this going to gain me much. I may just leave it stock. I think the real reason I want the 200x forks is so I can install a 350x headlight on there. Well this is it for now, if you have any SX tips I would apprieciate it. Blaze

I did not try it yet. I just measured the center to centers. I think there was an inch and three quaters difference.

Personally I would use a 350x front end if your going to do a swap. They will give you much better handling. They also are stronger. 3Wheelsforever put a 200x on the front and had a fork break. He then switched to a 350x set up and had no problems with the front end after that. ;)

Howdy is right. The 200x front end is fine for just plain trail riding. But if your going to be doing jumps it bottomed way to easy. I then upgraded to a 350x front end and like it much better. The SX wheelies very easy with the 350x front end (which is awesome  ) But to fix that all you have to do is put the forks higher in the triple trees.

Anybody have a pic of a sx with the 350x front end on there. I have a whole 350x setup other than the front wheel. I may have to have a fork straighend. How much work is involved redoing the steering stop?

hey BLAZER if you want your sx to look good you'll put the 200x front end on there, but if you want it to be ugly you'll put the 350x front end on it, the 350x forks are too long and put the trike at an angle. :?

Blazer here is a picture of my old 250sx with a 350x front end. The work on the steering stops isnt very hard. Honda atc70 I think your wrong about the 250sx looking bad with the 200x front end. Of course it does put it at more of an angle but have you ever thought about lowering the forks into the tripple trees??

I have the 200X front end on both my 250SX's. I run them in the stock triples because I had torn each bike down to the frame and didn't know the steering stops had to be modified - I would have welded it up while it was a bare frame. So now I have good front suspension but no front brake. Now about all these SX front ends, yes lots of them go on there and look pretty and all but have you felt the rear shock?? You can put a 2004 CRF450 front end on there for all I care and still have a useless rear shock. Yep maybe that can be changed also but thats why we have the 200X, 350X etc. To date no one has successfully improved there rear suspension. I had a bunch of stuff machined up and mounted a 200X shock on mine and it wasn't any better. So to me a nice match seems to be the 200X front end with a 1.5" long PVC spacer in it. The PVC at 1" is just a bit too large and has to be sanded or turned down to about 1.020 for it to fit in the tubes, but without it the 200X front end is way too soft and you'll be trying to put some air pressure in there etc. And if it is apart I would do the mods for the 200X triples because they are better and stronger.

hmm that one is pretty nice it looks alittle high from the front though but it looks ALOT better than the other 250SXs ive seen with 350x front ends. a regular 350x would look cool with a 250sx or 85-86 250r headlight.

i like the 200x front on my 250sx. the only reason i put the 200x front on was cuz i had it laying around, and there is a disk brake. even with the stock forks on the rear suspension always bottomed out when ever i would jump, and i was not jumping it high at all. when trail riding the back bounces around and sometimes bottomed out. the 350x front would work, it makes the front a little higher but i think it is more suspension than what is needed or can be used on a 250sx. yes you can slide up the forks, but how much? how far untill the fork seals hit the tree, when bottomed out.

I know the 250sx was never ment to be a performance machine. Yes you can slide them up in the tripple trees an inch or two. It was not my choice to do so though. I am just pointing out the fact that if you definitly want the increased suspension you can go with the 350x front end.

I think I'm gonna go for the 350x front end.
