Common problems would be cracks in the rear subframe between the plastic/seat mounts. Bad stator and flywheel keys. Besides that they are pretty much tanks.. The rear subframe cracks aren't a big deal weld them up and ride.

Tried putting up photo but no luck.It doesn't look bad at all in the pics.Nothing is busted up looks pretty complete, newer fenders.I am asking $975 for my trike what would a decent 85 be worth.

An 85 in decent running shape would be worth right around that ballpark. It really depends on the fit and finish of the little things.

I have ruined a stator, but it was my fault. Did not seal the gasket properly, got water and dust in mine (I can be a dumptruck sometimes, lol). Alot of the 'Tecate owners of ol' ', have the original stator. Leaky fuel petcocks seem consistant, a Yamamha BigBear 250 on e-bay is under $20 and is a direct bolt on (run line in front of carb). And a leaky rear master cylinder, use an early KX 125 (pretty inexpensive). But like Doug said, they are built so well 'like a tank', but lighter than any other racing trike. Man, they are just fun, wicked little high-strung buggers!

Wish I could post the pics, can anybody help me on that?I know nothing about Tecate. It doesn't look bad at all. There is a pipe on it,can't tell. The silencer is a FMF.Original front tire with alot of tread left.Looks like original seat cover and rear fenders.A set of Spyder Tracs on the back with some tread left. The skid plate is missing.

There's a couple of ways you can post pics. One is to upload the image file to ImageShack (http://www.ImageShack.us/) and copy/paste the image link here, then wrap in IMG tags, like so: image link goes here. Don't forget to resize to 800x600 in the drop down resize button, otherwise your pics might not load for some members from being so huge.
Also, when you first ride it, don't be scared, because they have a LOT of get up and go due to their gearing. Once you're completely comfortable riding (and learn where to put your left leg to keep it from being burnt- BTDT, took me about 3 months), you'll find out just how much fun it is to rip open that powerband and fly over jumps, or slide around corners, or do power wheelies, ect. ect. but take it easy at first, the last thing you want to do is pull an Xpress and ruin your OEM rear fender ;) :(

I'd do it.. If that Tecate runs good it would well be worth it.. if you want to go fast.. I'd sell the rear plastics and make some of your money back for a set of green rears..

Another problem i have found. The flange from your carb to the air box. The flange is riveted on the top and bottom. I have removed these and put bolts in there to seat that gap.
