Anyone know how to fix this ? When my BR is cold and I go to choke it I have to hold the choke over. If i let go it slides down. I took the switch apart and looked at it, but nothing looks broke or messed up that I can see...

Sounds like it's worn out somewhat. I'd probably just use it the way it is, because I'm cheap. But for a fix, you could buy a Chinese carb and rob the parts off of it.

What parts do you think I would need ? Is there maybe a spring in there that is wore out ? The choke switch ( up on the handle bars next to the light switch/electric start ) pull itself back down quickly. I have had to use a strong rubber band to keep it locked in the choke position, but surely this has happened to someone else and they know exactly what needs replaced...

I dont think its related to the carb. Probably related to your choke switch up on the handlebars. I guess the slider should get squeezed somehow to make it stay on the choke position.
Another possibility: Someone changed the spring that pushes the plunger back in for a really stiff one...
Just shooting ideas, Never heard of someone having the same problem.

my sx is the same way, and everything is like new, just the way it is on some. i think it is the cable itself, just slides super easy, no drag. it is kind of a pain just cause they are cold blooded. in the winter i usually have to drive it while holding the choke open. a pain yes, but only in the cold months. you could try a new cable i guess.

My Big Red and 250SX both do the same thing...it takes 3 hands to start it, one to hold choke, one to push start, and one to open throttle a little.

My '85 250es is the same way. I took my handlebar switch apart and stretched out the spring inside the choke lever, hoping it would add enough tension to keep it from moving, but no luck.

yupp

I've got 3 like that. I wonder if there's a worn out 'click' notch that's supposed to hold them.
I'll have to check a known working one. Never really paid attention.
I just grab whatever's closest and take off.

2 hands to start/choke and rt knee to hold the throttle for a minute.

The nice thing is that the choke holds about 1/2 on for a few minutes and walks itself
all the way off as I ride.
