Take a look at the pics. Bike was stripped down and then sat. Motor is in tact and supposedly ran:confused:(in the tub). No rear wheels or front fender. Says everything else is there just gotta put it all back together. Judging by the pics metal on the frame looks to be rusting and seat is in dire need:cry:. wants $250? Seems steep to me. He says rear fenders are worth $100? Looking for advice. give it to me straight fellows. Worth making it ridable or enough need out there to part out? 122418122419122420

Way high! Fenders seem to be glass? Or Maier, either way not worth $100,whole piles worth $150 if you wanted to break even. Engine will need rebuilt. That's why it's where it is! Seats junk, tank looks junk,,He's way too high IMO.

I bought a set of plastics that were much nicer with a seat with no tears for a 200x that looked good for $40.

Sounds like a no brainer then. I offered him $100 without seeing the rest(he was asking $300) but he came back with 250. Sounds like I was close to true value. Told him it would cost me $50 in gas just to get it, not his problem, but still. Thanks for the feedback.

Looking for advice. give it to me straight fellows.

not worth $250....I would give no more than 75-100 for that pile.

a 200X can get very expensive if yer not careful.....way more than the resale value especially with a basket case.

rule of thumb....."motor ran" is a worthless statement when it comes to an old motor.....if you can`t see it or hear it fire and don`t do a compression test, it`s worth as much as a blown motor....very little....."ran" could mean ran and smoked, choked, knocked, pinged, clicked, or barely ran.

a motor can run even when it burns oil, needs a cam, needs a valve job, needs topend, needs cam chain, needs crank and rod bearings......any time I buy a motor NO MATTER WHAT THE SELLER SAYS, I rebuild at least the topend and maybe the whole deal depending on what the topend looked like apart....no matter the circumstance (unless I KNOW the previous owner and trust his word....been caught with pants down numerous times)

I would offer $75 for that pile and no more.....they are ALWAYS way more cash to build from peices than one may anticipate in the beginning

My first 200X was purchased whole not missing anything for $400......the ONLY thing that was worth keeping was the frame and swinger.....everything else was jacked-up and toasted with the motor (with decent compression) being so bad inside all over, I bought a Lifan for half what it would have cost to rebuild everything that was worn out.

I just got one complete in better shape (good tires, 9"X9" aluminum rims, DG exhaust, good seat, IMS short tanks tank and pretty good plastic) for $190. Was told "ran when taken apart", checked compresion when I got it home and 0 psi compression. $250 is high, even for my area. I wouldn't put more than $100 up front in it and might walk at that.

Would not give any more than $100. "Motor ran when..." blah blah, it's going to need work regardless, and therefore not worth much more than the dirt it is sitting on. Fenders are no more than a $20 bill maybe, wouldn't trust that frame, basically strip off the useful parts and get rid of the rest.

almost every motor that i bought seperate from a bike and was told it ran needed work just aks yourself who pulls a good motor out of a bike unless there painting the frame or motor and i dont see new paint and what was the reason they didnt put it back together i bet my ass somthing is broke or missing

Its worth something, $50 - $100. The plastic is usable ($50). The engine is a parts donor at least ($30 - $50). The tote is worth about $7 if there is a lid. Since it will cost so much to drive there, I'd pass if I were you no matter the price.

Motor probably needs work at best, might be toast. Tank looks good but could be rusted inside. Rear fenders look good. I agree with the other guys, no more than $75 or so

If I pulled a perfectly good running engine out of a bike, it would go inside my basement inside of a box safely tucked away and stored upright, NOT thrown into a crate and left outside. :)

Thanks for all the replies everyone! I seen what I got into with my 86 BR. Got way more into it than I thought I would. But had it out riding it around today, without the bolt on parts in the rear (fenders, rack etc,) in neighbors small pasture. Gonna end up in it for between 900 & 1000 for a rider with new rear fenders when I'm done but nothing else special. Learning as I go thanks to everyone on this site! Again thanks:beer
