Are you wiping the dipstick off in between checks? You should be able to see a line on the stick. However it is much easier to pre measure and pour in what you need.

Usually when I pull out the stick you can maneuver it to the point that the light will reflect off the line of oil on the dipstick.

My god man, tell me you're not serious.

Put an add in the classifieds "WTB Book of Matches" or "Brain Wanted, Any Condition".

^^wow, harsh ^^

try pulling the dipstick and laying it acrass a piece of paper, the paper should soak up the oil so you can see the level.

 I guess being a veteran he knows how to think on his feet and expects the same of others.

Don't you have a clean white rag?

Most Honda dipsticks are not supposed to be threaded in for a level check, just set on the threads. It will tell you in your owners manual what your model requires.........

i had to argue with so many people about how to check there oil. everbody says SCREW IT IN !,,, thats what she said bahaha.
yeah you gotta set it on top for a proper check.
heres what i do: put bike on level serface, pull stick out whipe it clean, set it on top and check again. warm it up for 5-10 mins then do it all again. oil thins out whats why i check mine when its reached operating temp.

Well it does seem kind of sad that someone can't check their oil. I would think that nowadays that everyone would own at least one type of a light source.
