Hello,
I am trying to replace the fork seals and oil on my 86 250r. The clymer says to put the slider in a vice and yank on the fork to get it out of the slider. I have pulled somewhat hard, wanted to check with you guys before I apply brute force. So I should be able to yank that thing on out no?

Thanks!

You got the allen bolt out of the bottom of the for leg? If so, yes, just lay a little manly muscle into it, and it will pop right out.

The Clymer didnt mention the snap ring or removing the dust seal..I guess its assumed the guy doing the work isnt a moron :D Thanks!

If they are the same as the 85 forks there is also a snap ring in the top right above the fork seal itself that must be removed.

So i got it all apart. putting it back together now. Any suggestions for driving the bushing into the slider? I was going to look for a pvc pipe and hope I can find one that will fit.

thanks

I've had to make drivers for all 3 Honda forks.

The upper bushing seems to be the PITA to get back in and needs a good sized driver.

You can split the pvc and built it out a bit, for the seal; The wipers pop in......

I just changed the fork oil and seals on my 350X and used 1 1/2" black ABS pipe.
Worked like a charm.
TIP.....length about 4 ft and at the top of the pipe drill a hole about half inch to stick a screwdriver in and bang the pipe out after
