I have a 84' yamahauler shaft drive that will not sit in neutral. It seems it wont find any of the gears correctly, There is also a loud clicking noise coming from the transmission when it is driven. It seems like it has something to do with the position of the shift shaft. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Possibly bent shifting forks keeping things from syncing up correctly? The shift shaft generally doesn't have a lot of adjustment, its either in or its out...

I would say it is time to go on ebay and buy a set of shift forks and the shaft have seen a couple of adds where you can buy them all for a decent price.

dont drive it or try to drive it until u fix that u dont wanna mess anything else up, a tranny sounding sounds like the shift fork may have broken inside. or bend really bad.
