View Full Version : 84 swinger and shock in a 86 200x sits funny.

im buying my old 84 200x back with an 86 but he put my old swinger and shock in the 86 and it sits ab out 4' high in the back and the rear tires are almost under the footpegs. why would it be sitting like this? did someone move the upper shock mount? :wondering

il try to get pics a lil later on

Some people think improving suspension is jamming the wrong parts on the wrong machine.

All the geometry and spring rates involved are not easy to get right, then the seat is too high and the wheelbase/rake too short or too raked out and won't turn.

Sometimes Mad Scientist experiments work, other times they don't............

More travel doesn't men it's better unless it's usable travel.

Like DC said links don't work. The 83-85 used a dogbone on the bottom of the shock to mount to the swinger, the 86-87 did not use that. I'm going to guess that dogbone is the issue.

ok but it also sat like that before he changed the swinger so he either had a 84-86 swinger or its something else..
