so I'm trying to help out my local honda shop cause they been giving me some really great deals lately. they have a 1st gen 250r believe it's an 83 they claim to have checked coil, stator, and alternator. But it keeps frying the cdi they keep buying the same as what's in it which I didn't get the numbers to check if it is even the right one, shop owner thinks its the wrong cdi for the trike. If anyone could look and tell me the right numbers off of theirs, and maybe what else could be causing the short I would greatly appreciate it. From what I was told it is all stock, no motor work has been done.

Hey buddy, this might help. I found it on 3WW.

You might want to check for corroded wires or most likely a shortout somewhere.

When your CDI's start burning up, you need to replace the voltage regulator, 90percent of the time, it's the reason.
