I have always had pretty good luck with wiseco rings. Make sure the rings you got were for the proper piston and bore size (xc rings only work with xc pistons, check the piston for part number) Did you have the cylinder bored? If so they might have bored it a bit too big, also if you didn't replace your valve seals that could cause your motor to smoke. Another little item that causes BIG problems on the 185/200 motors is the O-ring that sits in the head gasket on one of the studs, if this isn't replaced, or has a nick in it you'll get an internal oil leak that is difficult to track down and causes the engine to smoke.

Hope this helps

I had the same problem years ago and the shop that rebuilt it swears it was the moly bond oil I was using.

No, I,ve never had problems with wiseco rings sealing right up. I would recheck the bore finish, and size. And the "O" ring ATCMedic was talking about also causes this problem. Let us know.

measure the ring gap next time you take it apart. more than .016 and new rings won't help. you'll need new piston kit and bore job

ive used wiseco pistons before and havent had a problem....are you sure that the top 2 ring gaps were away from each other, and the oil ring was properly in its place.
