Its looking like i may need a new piston and rings for my 200es. If i have to go that route im trying to decide between the 12:1 and the 10.25:1 wiseco piston. Ive heard the 12:1 are overkill but im a pretty heavy dude and the extra power would be nice, before everyone says get a biger bike, I like my 200es and i have a good bit of money tied into it so i want to get the most out of it i can. I already have a xl200 cam in it. I had a old 185s with a wiseco 12:1 and it had some power. I know its not a race bike, but it would be nice to have some extra grunt when climbing hills and mud.

12:1 life expectancy is about half or a little better than a 10.25:1 IMO , also the 12:1 will need race fuel .

It's nice to have all that compression, but keeping fresh race gas is always an issue for my 87 200X; Just my personal experience.

I may tear it out and take the dome down a bit on my lathe sometime........

I'd love to nail down 11:1 or a bit less.

if you use a 10.5 : 1 piston and a crf 230 head gasket it puts you real close to 11:1

whats the highest comp you can use pump gas on a 350 i like dirtcrashers idea

i do not understand why everyone thinks they have to run race gas with a Wiseco 12:1 call Wiseco they will tell you to run pump gas, not race fuel. When i talked to them myself they said that a 12:1 piston for my 350x was really around 10.5:1-11:1 ....so there is NO NEED for race gas. According to Wiseco, running a 12:1 piston will ONLY require race gas once the motor is stroked. They recommend race gas anything over 12:1, but you need to really figure out your TRUE compression ratio before dumping all that cash of race fuel

Now mind you this was all for the 350X, so it may be different for other bikes.

200x is a hole different ball game LOL . 93 octane isn't enough and about 5 min of riding with 12:1 will make you a believer .
