85 250r headlight vs 86 250r headlight... Can someone tell which one is which?

HEY FELLAS IN NEED OF A HEADLIGHT FOR ONE OF MY 86 250R's AND IVE BEEN LOOKING AT SOME ONE EBAY, BUT IVE FOUND (2) DIFFERENT STYLES THAT CLAIM THEY'RE FOR A 1986 250R ATC, CAN SOMEONE HELP ME OUT BY IDENTIFYING THE CORRECT 86 MODEL HEADLIGHT?

I'M PRETTY SURE IT'S PICTURE #2, BUT I JUST WANNA BE SURE, THANKS FELLAS.

Im not here to argue...But pic # 1 is definately an 85 250r and pic # 2 is definately an 86...IM ABSOLUTELY POSITIVE..CASE CLOSED !!!! Feel free to look up oem brochures,and you will find this to be factual...

Actually you`re both wrong , pic #i `85 250r , pic#2 i don`t know - maybe a red 250sx headlight ? `86 250R is the same as an `85 except each side is solid to the straps ! It`s like splitting hairs if thats what you like .

I have to strongly disagree with you glamy. I have an original 86 trike that I replaced the oem bezel with another nos oem 86 bezel and that is it right down to the warning sticker that came on the 86 and not the 85. They are totally different. 85 had a square glass and 86 was more rectangular. I have these lights on my 85r, 86R, 200x and a 185s w/200x front end.

Ironbnder is right. The #1 is the '85 and #2 is the '86 (which is a really nice light by the way).

I don't know about splitting hairs the bottoms are completely different. Next time do some homework.

I think I like the looks of the 85 R better. If im correct you can still get aftermarket from maier white black and red.

Not to brag :) but I pretty sure that I just purchased the last '86 bezel in the states from a parts house in Maine about 3 weeks ago. And just to agree the bezel in pic #2 is for an '86. It still boggles me why Maier never produced the '86 bezel.
