Hey guys, I am working on a 86 Tecate project and I am having problems with picking a frame color. First I was thinking purple but then I seen a few tecates with the blue frames and I liked it. But I want something different. I was thinking a green frame but want to know from you guys if its too much green (between the plastics and tank) or if it looks slick and if you have pics please post.
I saw one project with a green frame on here but with no plastics on it. Most everything will be polished on the trike (motor, axles, forks).

Any help would be great

Thanks
Tyler

I perfer purple. Blue looks weird on it and all green makes it look hondaish. I have mine in purple but it was a little too dark for me. Ill have it painted again soon.

I think the purple looks kind of weird... reminds me of that children show Barney.

Ive seen a few white framed tecates on here and i think they look pretty nice.

^ Lol, I sure love Barney. Ya, to do something different is kinda tuff. I wanted to go a light gray, but Scottzj's looked so original, I didn't want to infringe. I also didn't know if I was going to end up with green, red or black fenders a few months ago, so I just painted it all white, lol, so I could go with anything, now I see mudbogger had the same idea, ha, ha. I do have an orange frame 85' to be different, but I suspect I'll notice alot more white frames now that I did my 84' like that, but mine'll have black fenders, the others have red and green with white.

So I guess none of you guys are gravedigger fans. green and purple for 20+ years.

^ Ya, matter of fact I've seen em' a few times race, lol. I also was looking at a 1984 KX 500 hill-climber on e-bay and it had the purple and green schematics goin' on, I really liked it, but then it's custom Kawasaki stickers and trying to match the purple up with other purple. White is just right up my simple-minded alley. I'm sick of thinkin', I just want to ride the effin' thing, lol!

Mine is dark grey metallicAt least that matches the Kawasaki Lime green. I've never understood the green & purple myself. It must be a comic book, supervillain infatuation thing.

Red is an easy color to match up with. Purple is a kawasaki color so why not? Ill bet half of you guys like dingy metalic paints. Yuck. So other then the fact im the only one who posted purple yet everyone hates it?

blue and green are a natural match. IMO its the only color that goes well with green.. black, white, silver, and gray are OK..

Other than a couple years where Kawasaki used some purple accents on the KX's decals & I think some seats, I've never really seen much purple on the Kawis, nor associated it with Kawasaki. I don't think anyone has said they hate the purple color scheme, it's just not their first choice, but if you like those colors on your ride, then more power to ya.

Thanks for all the pics and info. So far I have Blue, White and Green frames. If I am going to use purple I think it will be just a few accent pieces like KFX-XC-Racer88 which by the why that quad looks bada$$! I guess I have about 9 months to figure this out! Thanks for all the input guys!

I agree. Love them Hoosiers too!

Those are Duro tires. Hoosiers don't have the wide gap between the rows.

Good choice on the purple. Me an one other dude have orange, but he's in NZ so it's cool, but here's something a bit different:

Tecate 250 the pegs are off of a yfz 450. just cut and bolted onto 84 pegs. i just hope the white plastic looks good on the t3 when its done. not a big fan of the white plastic but for 100 bucks i couldnt pass em up. thanks
