So, both of the chain rollers are missing from my 86 250R. The top mount is missing for the upper chain roller. The bottom mount and bolt is there but no roller. I found the upper roller on Ebay but they are selling a chain slide mount with the roller for an 85-86 250r. Where does the chain slide mount go. I can't find any info whatsoever about the chain slider or rollers anywhere on any site on any parts diagram.

What is the part other than the roller in this pic and where does it go?

Will these rollers work?

Thanks again fellas.. trying to get this thing lined out..

Hey, I'm bidding on the same parts.

The slide mount bolts to the frame below the reservoir. Forward of the upper roller.

Stock rollers are 25mm wide so those are a bit too wide. I've made other aftermarket rollers work by shaving it down to fit.

I've wondered why these rollers are expensive. $36 from Honda.

What is the part other than the roller in this pic and where does it go?The flat part is the chain guard, which goes underneath the rear shock reservoir. The "U-shaped" part is the upper roller mount. The bolt that attaches the reservoir mount to the frame also holds the chain guard. The chain guard bracket mounts to the outside of the frame and the bolt goes through it, then the frame, and finally into the reservoir mount.

As for the upper & lower chain rollers, I'm using these: http://www.tmdesignworks.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=189_190_173&products_id=277

In the pics below, I've highlighted the individual parts with "Kawasaki Green", so you can easily identify them.

As long as you're on this subject, is there a spacer that keeps the upper roller from sliding side to side on the bolt or does it just bounce around back and forth?

A made a roller out of oil impregnated nylon and ran it on a hollow collar. 4 years later it had no signs of wear.

I'm back.. and I'll be damned if this upper chain roller won't fit. I got the ones from the picture above and there is no way it's going to fit without grinding on something..

Can I get some measurements of the width of the roller, the width of the "C" piece, and how far the little post sticks out from the frame? If you guys can help me figure out which part is the wrong one. Everytime I step up to this 250R it seems something won't go on, won't come off..

The oem upper roller has bearings in it correct? It also has a smaller id than the lower roller that has a collar that goes in it, and according to the manual, parts diagrams.. has no bearings in it. The part numbers are different for the upper or lower roller and the price was double for the upper

I think you might have a setup off of a '85. It shows everything as a different part # from '85 to '86. The "C" collar is a different #, along with the upper and lower being the same size on the '85. The '86 shows two different rollers for top and bottom. If I had to guess you have a '85 roller and that's why its giving you fits.

If you would like I could take some measurements and pics of my '86 when I get home in the morning from work.

bkm is correct. The chain roller parts have completely different part numbers between the 85 and 86 250R. Everyone selling the parts on Ebay say they are for the 85-86 250R but apparently they are wrong.

Instead of making a new thread, I'll post to this one since it's so easily accessible via Google...

If I'm reading this thread right, the linked TM rollers work for both on an '86 but not on the upper '85. Is this correct?

If that's the case, do us '85 owners have no choice but to swap to an '86 upper mount? Trying to get my rollers squared away as they're the only thing keeping me from taking this thing on its maiden voyage...
