all years will fit, but you have to use the 84/85 linkage and 86/87 linkage with their respective swing arms, also the 86/87's are 2" longer than the 84/85

Rodd, I tried to get the 86-87 cantilever to work on the 84-85 frame and it looked like it would be more work to fit it than to just move the 86-87 dogbone mount to the center of the 86-87 swingarm.

That is not true. At the very least the mount for the dog bone needs to be moved. Like dcreel said, there may even be more to it than that.
If you're going to extend a swinger, keep in mind that the 86-87 swingers are aluminum. The 84-85's are steel so it's easier for you to do yourself. I have extended two 85 swing arms and it's not difficult at all. I had a thread on my first one that seems to have disappeared and nobody knows where to find it. You can look at TecateDan's build thread and see how we did his.

You can get new intake boots from member jeswinehart through this site or on ebay (when posted).
You failed to mention what year your Tecate is, but regardless the extension question has been answered.
I made this thread to try to help T3 owners with parts:

I stand corrected, as far as bolting right up, but it will work with some fab work (after making alot of stuff "work" I occasionally get "making it work" and "bolts right up" messed up:D)

I'll have to take a peek at what I have. I am a bit of a parts whore. I usually don't sell too much of what I have in stock. You may want to post an ad in the classifieds looking for a swing arm. They're not all that rare.
Is your machine an 84-85 or an 86-87?

It's an 86-87. But the year is 86. I will try. I am trying to buy this bad top end only kx 250 for the carb boot/ intake because I am still having problems with it acting like it's running out of gas. I took it out to the dunes and it started all over again with the spit in and sputeren. I have cleaned the carb pulled the pet cock out it has to be sucking air in that intake boot.

Could be the crank seals.

Yeah, try spraying carb cleaner around the intake boot area with engine rev'd up. If it dies when sprayed it is sucking air. If it don't do anything, it ain't sucking air.
Good call Fabio.

I tried that with the starter fluid and nothing it didnt die didnt rev up nothing the same thing. Running like crap. Why the crank seals? That would cause it to run like s___? There is no coolant in the oil or anything like that. I dont know.
