hello im about to buy a 1982 honda 185 it is "supposidly" in running condition but hasnt been ran for a year, i know im gonna clean the carb the gas lines and the fuel tank, i also plan on running a snorkel i know for a atv u can run a 1.5'' snorkel without re-jetting and 2" with jetting, what about 3 wheelers can i put a 1.5" snorkel without jetting? and what should i look out for before i buy it?

Hey there... In regards to the kickstart, I think you would need to have a manual clutch for that *I have never done it myslef, so maybe others will chime in). Without a pull start you really dont have many options in what to check (spark, compression etc...), I know my 200s the pull starter assemblies are tough to find...
Good luck!!!

well for testing compression and spark i was gonna wrap a rope around, also im HOPING it comes with the casing for the pullstart cause then i can just get a rebuild kit, i knew these basics to check anyways, i was just wondering if there is anything inparticular about 3 wheelers i should look for, were they know for cracking frames, engine mounts, bad cdi, stator etc, also im hoping it comes with the pulllstart casing so i can just get a rebuild..:Bounce

the only issue with the motorcycle engine is the transmission usually is weaker, and can fail because of the high demand of torque. check the classifieds and or ebay for a pullstart or internals, also depending on where you are located you might find a complete and functioning start at a atv bone yard, I have a 81 200 with all original internals, so it varies on bike to bike

i kinda had a feeling about that, but i was also thinking make it as light as possible, 20" tire in front 18s in back take off all excess weight also:Bounce:confused:

eeeak so i just got a message from buddy that claimed his bike was in running condition, he now says its been sitting for a year, hes comming tomorrow so i can see it and while hes here i plan on cleaning the carb, checking the petcock, gas lines, then pouring gas down the head should it start up fairly easy? or not even worth the time

Don't mess with gas down the plug hole. Shoot a couple sprays of the Carb cleaner down it, and give it a go!

so put gas down where it connects to the air filter?
