just wondering what I should be looking for before making up my mind if i should purchase this. its a 83 250R. $600 person says it needs choke work (they say probably needs new cable) and the chain is stretched. Im thinking it needs new chain and sprockets but could be as simple as adjusting it but i doubt it. is this a good price bike looks to be in ok shape has a twist throttle. let me know http://winnipeg.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicles-ATVs-snowmobiles-ATVs-1983-Honda-250R-3-Wheeler-for-SALE-600-W0QQAdIdZ272275478

"Choke Work" requiring a new cable?? The choke isn't even connected to a cable...

At any rate, $600 for a running 250R in Canada is a steal! GO FOR IT!!

I agree with xhumeka. There is a little lever on the carburetor that turns the choke on or off, there is no cable.

If its running, $600 for an 83 250r is a good deal.

I had an 83 250r, great little bike.

oh i see, must be like my tri moto, has a little pull out mechanizim. i really want this machine, i dont know if if would be able to run with the choke not working properly but i guess some gas into the carb could work.

It either needs rings,or more than likely, carb cleaned. Either way ,it is a GREAT deal!!

I went to take a look at the bike, it needs a top end for sure. rear bearings need to be replaced and there was no air filter so who knows how long the bike has been run without a filter.

Personally, if that machine was here for $600, I wouldn't of even tried to start it. I would of just bought it. Good deal for my area.

how much average is a top end rebuild would the bottem end be damaged cause of running with no air filter?

Well, I have had both of them gens. The 83 is a better ride but I think I would get the first gen. I miss my first gen. Pistons and rings can be had for around $100. Wiseco. The bore job, assuming it's not bored to the max I am unsure of. I paid $60 for mine to get done.

went too look at it. there was a air filter (maybe put it on to hide something) rear axle bushings very loose, dent in rear rim, front not straight, not a ton of compression it felt like, gas tank not bolted down, probably the good was the dg silencer and decent shape tires. something in my mind is telling me buy it. who knows
