200s and 200es ?

my buddy wants to pick up a 1984 big red 200.it smokes pretty bad so needs at least rings and new gasket set.i have 2 1984 200s motors was wondering if the top ends are the same?.i have a decent piston and cylinder he would just need rings if they are the same.also wondering where the cheapest place to get a set of rings and a gasket set for that trike would be thanks.

I am pretty sure they are the same. But most likely unless his is scored really bad hone and a bore with rings should do it. Its easy to lap valves yourself. That way you knows its all been re-done. Not just better used parts.

yeah we figured just rings and valve job.just wanted to make sure they are the same.

any idea where to get the best deal on a gasket kit or rings ?

yes the 200s and es are the exact same top ends. id order the top end gasket set and rings from your local dealer. it cost me 25$ cdn for a top end gasket set. rings are a bit more.

Dont buy cheap 20$ no name rings. They'll last 2 years tops. Ive had a set of them in my klt for just under 6 months and its smoking again.
